Connecting the Dots
Integrating Primitive Reflexes
Were you over the moon when your baby grasped your finger when he was just born? Did you ever wonder how your sweet baby knew how to open her mouth to eat upon birth? Those and many other primitive reflexes were present at birth or within the next few months, so your baby could survive. However, as the brain develops, they are no longer needed and disappear over the next year or so.
This series will explore those primitive reflexes and how, if retained, they can affect the development of other systems, such as writing, speech, eye movement, and balance. Stay tuned to explore primitive reflexes, test if your child has retained them, and learn how to integrate them to promote brain growth. If your child is struggling to learn or using too much battery figuring out schoolwork, you may see how the dots connect from birth.
